Chief Executive John Lee and senior government officials attended a flag-raising ceremony this morning to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's establishment.
The ceremony was held at Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai at 8am.
The Police Band performed at the event and singers Chen Yong and Phoebe Tam sang the national anthem, followed by a fly-past and a sea parade by the disciplined services.
The celebrations of the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland and the inaugural ceremony of the sixth-term Hong Kong SAR Government took place at the Grand Hall on Level 3 of the Convention & Exhibition Centre after the ceremony.
